Defective Auto Products

Free Defective Auto Products Case Review

The responsibility of an automotive company is to ensure that products manufactured are properly assembled and able to withstand appropriate use. Among the top causes of death in the United States are automotive accidents, many of which are attributed to defective auto products. Regardless of the reason for defectiveness, whether it be manufacturer error or complete negligence, you have rights as a consumer. The severity of the defect and its consequences may vary widely by product from flat tires to mechanical failures. Though these insufficiencies may seem minor, the possibility exists of significant damage to your vehicle, as well as the potential death and/or injury to you or a loved one.

[6/28/2007] Chinese Tire Recall to begin July 2, 2007 – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced it is requiring tire importer Foreign Tire Sales (FTS) of New Jersey to recall approximately 450,000 tires sold for light weight trucks. Originally manufactured by Hangzhou Zhongce Rubber Company in China, they were sold by a handful of distributers in the U.S. under the brand names Telluride, Westlake, YKS, and Compass. Though Hangzhou Zhongce denies all allegations stating that their tires were manufactured without the safety feature of a gum strip, FTS stands behind the claim that these tires possess the potential to be deadly. The 0.6mm gum strip that is believed to have been omitted, prevents unexpected tread separation from occurring. Thus far, two deaths and two serious injuries have been reported in relation to this recall.

FTS will continue to replace recalled tires as long as finances permit, at which time the company will file for bankruptcy. The NHTSA has refused to help aid FTS financially, even after they file for bankruptcy.

The following retailers stocked the tires in question per FTS:

  • Strategic Import Supply, Wayzata, Minnesota
  • Omni United USA, Inc, Jacksonville, Florida
  • Orteck International, Inc. of Gaithersburg, Maryland
  • K&D Tire Wholesalers LLC, Carlsbad, California
  • Robinson Tire in Laurel, Mississippi
  • Tireco, Compton, California

Though Hangzhou Zhongce will not identify which tires may be in question, the following sizes with the brand names Telluride, Westlake, YKS, and Compass are speculated to put consumers at great risk:

  • LT235/75R-15
  • LT225/75R-16
  • LT235/85R-16
  • LT245/75R-16
  • LT265/75R-16
  • LT3X10.5-15

The best person to assist you legally in your time of need is a personal injury attorney in your area. Each state has different laws in place regarding time constraints and liability limitations for filing suit. Become a part of the long overdue movement toward consumer justice in the automotive world. Without taking a public stand against such negligence, manufacturers will continue to abuse the customers that keep them in business. Please fill out a case review and a legal professional will contact you to discuss your case. We look forward to serving you, drive safely.

I was injured in car accident 3 years ago. I feel that my injuries were due to an airbag that was installed incorrectly. What can I do?
