There may not be much difference in the chemical makeup of Yasmin, Yaz and Ocella, but some women who have taken both versions claim that they have experienced different types of side effects while on Ocella.

Kaylasays:

I started out on yaz about four years ago, and then switched to ocella bc of the 10 dollar difference. Within the past six months i have stayed with a "UTI" and have been having problems with my kidneys, and pain in my side. The doctor found WBC in my urine. I have began to lose control of my bladder. Every time I use the bathroom, it still feels like i need to pee for about 30 minutes after. Lately I have been easily depressed and brought down. Persistant mood swings. I didn't even think about this being related to my birth control but now that I am reading other reviews I am starting to thing other wise. Any advice?

S.Dsays:

I started taking othello in place of yaz about three years ago. The first week on it was crazy. I was so paranoid. I felt the need to sleep with knives and a razor. I could not sleep in the dark. I felt as if someone was out to get me. I walked around in a fog and was so depressed until finally, I had to stop taking them. My heart would flutter and I would strain to breathe. I still donā??t feel like me. My insurance would not keep paying for yaz even though I wanted to continue to take them. I was almost made to take this pill.

i was just perscribed ocella by my obgyn du2 generic pill called junel causing bleed-thru periods this last year & irregularity... Reading up on all these comments makes me very concerned. I understand breast soreness & slight mood adjustments per hormones, but im beginning to think I need a different script...

Natashasays:

I have been on ocella for a very long time now I actually switched from yasmin to ocella. I have been on it for about 4 years, and recently I have been completely different, and just not myself. I have sore breasts at all times, I cried for a week straight for no reason at all mind you I rarely ever cry, I have UTI's and yeast infections constantly, headaches, sensitivity to light, nauseousness occurs every morning (I take my birth control late at night), mood swings to say the least (ask my boyfriend), and just depression on a whole new level. I've been wanting to stop ocella for a while because I didn't understand why I was acting how I was so I decided it must be the birth control, but risk of getting pregnant I continued since I wasn't sure. Then my boyfriend saw a commercial about the class action lawsuit for yaz, ocella, and yasmin and we decided I should stop taking it. I have to say I felt relieved to see the commercial and see everyones responses on this website because every single symptom you have I have had as well, and I am just glad to know I'm not crazy.

I've been taking Ocella for two years. I became overly emotional, and paranoid. I have had anxiety attacks. It gotten to a point where I had to go to therapy to figure out the cause. I switched to a different birthcontrol (the patch) and I went back to (almost) normal. While I was on Ocella, I've had frequent headaches, stomache, depression, and UTI. I even had yeast infection which is a side effect of Ocella. It gotten me to the point where I asked my doctor to switch my prescription of Birth Control.

Christinasays:

I have been suffering from an almost continuous UTI and HORRIFIC mood swings since i began taking Ocella. I take the medication continuously(i skip the inert week). It has been awful for both my health, my comfort at work, my overall activities, and intimacy. I hope the switch my pharmacy made to Zarah will help my symptoms.
