Sanofi-aventis is a French Pharmaceutical company and the maker of the drug called Multaq.
Multaq is the brand name of a heart medication primarily used to help treat people who have had atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter. The FDA has just now confirmed it has received several reports of liver damage, and said that it would add a new warning about the risk for liver damage to the label of the product.

I HAD QUADRUPLE BYPASS SURGERY ON MARCH 14,2011. I DEVELOPED AFIB AND TWO MONTHS AFTER MY SURGURY MY DR. PUT ME ON MULTAQ TWICE A DAY. HE GAVE ME SAMPLES OF MULTAQ WITH NO DATA SHEETS. WE WERE IN A MOTOR HOME IN FLORIDA AND WERE LEAVING FOR OREGON. THE FIRST WEEK IN JUNE I WAS GIVEN AN EKG. THE AFIB WAS GONE, BUT THE DR SAID TO STAY ON MULTAQ AND GET ANOTHOR EKG LATER. WE WENT TO NA FAMILY REUNION IN MINNESOTA. MY LEGS, ANGLES AND FEET WERE SWOLLEN. I HAD SHORTNESS OF BREATH AND HAR TO PROP MYSELF UP TO ALMOST THE SITTING POSITION TO SLEEP. THE THIRD WEEK IN JUNE I GOT BLOOD BLISTERS UNDER THE SKIN ON THE BOTTOM'S OF MY FEET. I WAS REALLY WEAK. ON JUNE 28, 2011 I STOPPED IN SPOKANE WA AND GOT AN EKG. WE FAXED IT TO MY DOCTOR IN FLORIDA. I GOT OFF THE MULTAQ. HOWEVER I NOW HAVE A-FLUTTER. WE RESTED UP AND MADE IT TO OREGON. MY CARDIOLOGIST IN OREGON SAIS I WAS IN CARDIAC FAILURE SINCE BEING ON MULTAQ. THE MULTAQ WEB SITE SAYS: IF YOU HAVE BEEN HOSPITALIZED FOR HEART PROBLEMS, DO NOT TAKE MULTAQ, IT INCREASES YOUR CHANES OF DIEING.I AN STILL WEAK AND THE SYMTOMS OF HEART FAILURE ARE SLOWLY GOING AWAY. IT WILL TAKE A LONG TIME TO GET TO THE LEVEL OF HEALTH I HAD BEFORE I TOOK MULTAQ.

I took Multaq for a week prior to a cardio version and then took it a few days after the procedure, but discontinued using it because it put me in heart failure and I had to be hospitalized for two weeks. When I sought compensation from Multaq, they gave me nothing and told me it was my doctor's fault for prescribing the medication to me.

I took Multaq for 10 months, one a day. I now have liver cancer and lesions all over my liver.

Have been takling multaq and the side effects listed are real.While the shortness of breath and weight gain are very evident in my case they are things that I felt were just happening because of age know I know different.The overall weakness and fear of going to sleep at nite ( fear of not breathing)are all to realI sleep with a fan blowing in my face.

My mother recently died after taking Multaq twice a day for just over a month. Four of her major organs shut down and she died of sepsis. She experienced many of the side effects listed.
